GithubFinder: JavaScript-powered Github repo browser

For those times you need to quickly browse a GitHub repo but don’t want to clone it locally, check out GitHubFinder from Alex Le.

Modeled after the Mac OSX finder, GitHubFinder provides a familiar drill-down navigation to browse all the files in a given repo. The project has a plugin-based architecture for extensibility and includes keyboard navigation, file diffs, basic syntax highlighting, and a resizable, panel-based interface out of the box.

Written in JavaScript as part of the 10K Apart Contest, the app uses the same JSONP API we use here on The Changelog and weighs in at just 8.5KB compressed. Bravo, Alex!

This little extensions slims down the fullscreen controls of YouTube’s HTML5 player, leaving more space for videos, and makes them less distracting. You’ll also find a “Source” link in the quality selector that will let you view/download the original source video of the currently selected quality. Future updates are sure to keep this extension a must have for every Safari user.

Ultimate Status Bar

A new alternative to the standard Safari status bar.

 

Its featureset includes:

  • hides when not needed
  • lengthens shortened URLs
  • show site icon destination URL so you can tell where the link goes
  • display file type and size information for downloadable files
  • Multiple themes to match your particular style

Some pretty cool features; hopefully some more Safari-like themes will be forthcoming. (Note to self: look more closely at the pretty pictures.)
